Tea Parties Scheduled for Independence Day

On April 15, millions of Americans gathered at Tax Day Tea Parties to protest an increasing swell of taxation and government intrusion.  Now we are seeing that the Tea Party phenomenon is not limited to tax day.  In honor of our nation’s birthday this Saturday, July 4, Americans will once again raise their voices in support of freedom as they attend more than 1,000 Tea Parties across the country, including the Patriot’s Day Tea Party in Orem.

The Patriot’s Day Tea Party will be held at the Lakeridge Junior High football field (951 S. 400 W.) in Orem on Saturday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The event will feature inspiring speakers, music, food from local restaurants, and fun for the kids.  Speakers will include Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, Representative Brad Daw, Candace E. Salima, and Jean-Claude Wicks.  Vetrans of Foreign Wars will be selling soft drinks, with all proceeds will go toward purchasing a van to transport veterans to appointments.

Event organizers urge citizens to make Independence Day not only a day of celebration, but also a day of action.

“There is no better way to celebrate America’s Independence Day than fighting for our freedom,” says event organizer Candace Salima. “Bring your blankets, bring your signs and make your voices heard.  We must maintain the Constitution as the rule of law in America. This is what our Tea Party is all about. Demanding that our voices be heard.”
